Anniversary Army day Parade - كل ما يخص عيد الجيش

6th January 2011 will mark the 90th Anniversary of the establishment of the Iraqi Army. This thread is dedicated to capturing the photos and events from the parades.

Some new that we can expect to see:
-A large number of M1A1AIM tanks of the Iraqi army (up to 80 tanks in the parade)
-AN32B transport(s) newly delivered (1 or 2 of these)
-BTR4E with PARUS turrets (perhaps 11 of these?)
-EC635 helicopters? (would be the first time to see them actually in Iraq)
-M109A5s from the US (perhaps)
-M198 Artillery (possibility?)
-T6A Texan trainers
-LASTA 95 trainers

any other new items that haven't publicly been noted in Iraqi service.... remains to be seen, lets hope there are some surprises for us! we really need them!

disappointing show really not many surprises, and even many of the expected items didn't appear.

دعا رئيس الوزراء العراقي نوري المالكي، الخميس، إلى عدم تسييس الجيش العراقي، مشددا على ضرورة أن يتم تسليح وتدريب الجيش لإيصاله إلى أعلى المستويات، فيما لفت إلى أن وزارة الداخلية ستتولى الأمن الداخلي ليتمكن الجيش من تأمين الحدود.

وقال المالكي خلال كلمة ألقاها في احتفالية أقيمت بمناسبة الذكرى التسعين لتأسيس الجيش العراقي وحضرتها "السومرية نيوز"،
إن "الجيش العراقي يجب أن يكون مستقلا

ولا يسييس لأي جهة سياسية كانت"،
مشددا على ان "القوات المسلحة
يجب
أن تكون لجميع أبناء

الشعب
ومن دون استثناء".

Now we know that the BTR 4, the An-32 & the eurocepters are not delivered!!!! only 2 Gazelles!!!!

well one person said that the AN32s were rejected by Iraqi inspectors after they found that it had old engines and avionics!
I wonder if this jeopardises the entire "ukrainian deal"... since it seems the Ukrainians have not delivered the BTR4s to Iraq either!

As for the EC635s. I really don't know... we know the Iraqi planes have been fully painted and ready sitting at eurocopter for months now...

well it tells a lot about the quality of eastern equipments, & when you think about the Algerian refusal for the Russian MiG-29s, that's leave you wondering why we're buying such junk????? money???? it would be ceaper to buy western hardwares that work than buying cheap eatern things that would cost 10 times more their value in repairs??? Why not considering the G 222 for example???
