اخي جميع المعلومات التي اذكرها انا اخذها من مواقع عسكريه متخصصه مثل Janes وغيرها ، المصادر العربيه لا اعتمد عليها ولا اقرأها ، ولا داعي للتحدي لان جميع ماذكرته من معلومات معروفه للجميع ومتداوله في المنتدي ومنتديات عربيه واجنبيه واعتقد ان بعض الأعضاء غيري خالفوك في ماقلت ، اذا كان انت ماتذكره صحيح ، اثبته لنا وسوف اكون اول شخص يصدقك ويخلع لك قبعته تحيه لك.

Going back to the original subject of this thread, i.e. Iraqi M1A1 tanks...

I saw in the news that there's what appears to be a second order of heavy recovery vehicles for Iraq. Could this indicate a second order of 140 tanks? Apologies if this question was addressed earlier.

YORK, Pa., Oct. 8 (UPI) -- BAE Systems has received a U.S. Foreign Military Sales contract to build heavy equipment recovery vehicles for the Iraqi army.

The award for eight M88A2 Heavy Equipment Recovery Combat Utility Lift Evacuation Systems, which can haul 70-ton combat vehicles, is worth$31.8 million.

The M88A2 Hercules features improved power-assisted braking to enable the recovery vehicle to tow an M1A1 tank; increased horsepower; an improved electrical system and an enhanced hydraulic system.

"BAE Systems is answering the need for a cost-effective, self-supporting, heavy recovery performance vehicle," said Mark Signorelli, vice president and general manager of Vehicle Systems at BAE Systems.

"Hercules will provide the Iraqi military with a recovery vehicle that has been tested and proven to tow and hoist today's heaviest combat vehicles."

Work on the contract will be performed at BAE's facilities in York, Pa., and Aiken, S.C. It is expected to begin in late 2013 and be completed in the middle of the following year.

Eight M88A2s were produced for the Iraqi army by BAE Systems in 2010.

Iraq has not requested any further batches.

In the future, Iraq might have five armored divisions and a brigade. Order a total of 700 Abrams in five consignments by 2020. Those would go to equip the 3rd and 5th Divisions, as well as the 56th Brigade. The 11th and 19th Divisions may also
get tanks purchased from the Ukraine as well as the 9ths T-72s.

Oct 5/12: 6 more tanks. General Dynamics Land Systems in Sterling Heights, MI receives a $9.5 million firm-fixed-price contract “for the services necessary to rebuild six M1A1 tanks in support of Foreign Military Sales.” US Army TACOM has confirmed to us that these are for Iraq.

Work will be performed in Lima, OH; Tallahassee, FL; Scranton, PA; Anniston, AL; and Sterling Heights, MI; with an estimated completion date of Dec 31/13. One bid was solicited, with 1 bid received by US Army Contracting Command in Warren, MI (W56HZV-12-C-0373).

Oct 4/12: 8 M88A2s. BAE Systems Land and Armaments L.P., York, PA receives a $34.6 million firm-fixed-price contract, for M88A2 Hercules vehicles “in support of Foreign Military Sales.” A subsequent BAE Systems release confirms that they will produce 8 new vehicles for Iraq, bringing the total to 16. That covers both of the 2008 DSCA requests, and after the 21 surplus American machines are refurbished and delivered, it will give Iraq a fleet of 37 recovery vehicles that can tow M1s out of trouble.

The York, PA facility will fabricate the new hulls for the M88A2 configuration, and the Aiken, SC facility will manufacture some of the parts for vehicles. Work is expected to begin in late 2013, with an estimated completion date of June 30/12. The U.S. Army Contracting Command in Warren, MI manages the contract, on behalf of their Iraqi Foreign Military Sale client (W56HZV-09-C-0408).

It's been a long time since my last update Iraq has ordered 6 m1A1tanks (see defense industry daily.com ) DJ has said that these tanks are for training and its a strong indication that Iraq will order more M1A1 tanks

yes. it is very possible that this first batch is for training as the other 140 are all now deployed with the 9th division and there are no tanks for training.

يعمل العراق على رفع قدرات الدعم الميدانية البرية لجيشه، عبر شراء مركبات إصلاح واستعادة جديدة. فقد منحت شركة بي أيه إي سيستمز (BAE Systems) عقد بيع لدولة أجنبية بقيمة 31.8 مليون دولار أميركي لإنتاج ثماني مركبات إم88إيه2 هيركيوليز (M88A2 HERCULES) للجيش العراقي. وتعتبر هذه المركبة من افضل الخيارات، مخصصة للتعامل مع مركبات القتال البالغ وزنها 70 طنّاً، مما يخفّض إلى النصف عدد مركبات الإصلاح والطواقم اللازمة لتنفيذ مهام الإصلاح والاستعادة في إطار دعم قوات الدبابات الحديثة.


وفي هذا الإطار أعلن مارك سينيوريلي، نائب رئيس ومدير عام نظم المركبات لدى BAE Systems أنّ "BAE Systems تلبي الحاجة إلى مركبة إصلاح واستعادة للمركبات الثقيلة ذات تكلفة مجزية توفر الدعم الكامل." وأضاف سينيوريلي:"ستوفر هيركيوليز للجيش العراقي مركبة إصلاح تم اختبارها وبرهانها لرفع أكبر مركبات القتال حجماً اليوم وقطرها."


تتميّز مركبة M88A2 HERCULES بفرامل معززة محسنة للسماح لمركبة الإصلاح بسحب دبابات إم1إيه1 (M1A1)، وقوّة دفع إضافية، ونظام كهربائي مطوّر، ونظام هيدروليكي محدّث، وذراع مرفاع تسمح للمركبة برفع برج دبابة M1A1. وتتميز مركبة HERCULES بأنها المركبة الأقل كلفة على مستوى الشراء والتشغيل والصيانة مقارنة مع أي نظام إصلاح للمركبات المدرعة زنة 70 طنّاً.
