Well, Moscow's visit has steered things up as it's clearly addressed on this article! But I'd love to know what type of "Aid" the Americans are threatening to cut? Because from what I see, Iraq is actually buying a downgraded stuff for a top dollar price.. The F-16IQ comes to mind

Last night Al Iraqyia TV, in its program "Humat Al Iraq", showed the results of the Al Wafaa Lil Iraq campaign to refurbish AAA, guns:"tens"of 57 mm & 37 mm were refurbished & returned to service. The Air defense commander said the other campaigns are going on & that although Iraq bought a number of air defense systems, but he Air Defense Command will not sit idly waiting for the new equipment.

أذا ما صحت أخبار الزيارة المرتقبة الى موسكو فأن العراق يمكن ان يحاول الحصول على معدات دفاع جوي روسية متقدمة و خاصة المتحركة منها بشكل خاص البانستير والبوك
Buk-1M & pantser missile systems
لانها منظومات متكاملة كبداية لانشاء منظومة دفاع جوي وهو بذلك يخرج من دائرة التسلح الامريكية في بعض مفاصلها

Buk is son of Kvadrat, so perhaps would be easier and faster to absorb by Iraqi crews and technicians than an entirely new system.

"The United States is providing Iraq with refurbished antiaircraft guns, free of charge, but they will not arrive until June. In the meantime, the Iraqis have collected cold war-era missiles found in a junkyard on an air base north of Baghdad, and they are trying to get them in working order."

It seems along with the AVENGER. Iraq also received some HAWK systems.

ME-262 كتب:Hayder--I was thinking about SLAMRAAM too, but given that the US doesn't want to sell AMRAAM missiles to equip the F-16IQs, I will assume the SLAMRAAM is out of the question too.
Amraams missiles belonging to the Slamraam cannot be used on fighter places, the data link in them cannot interface with radars belonging to fighter jet.

Egypt for example was denied Amraams for its F-16s but they Americans sold it Slamraam, the same thing might apply to Iraq too.

The PAC 3 is the short range (15-20km) missile (4x PAC3 missiles fit into the launch tube of one PAC2!).

PAC-2 is the "main" long range weapon with a range of 160km.

I therefore expect Iraq to focus on PAC2, with a small number of PAC3 with it.

that it's right . but i think United States will not sell these systems to Iraq .Because Americans are spreading these systems in some countries, such as Poland and Turkey within the framework of the program (the missile shield) to confront the Iranian threat and the threat of North Korea and they did not sell to these countries, but took advantage of the accession of these countries in a NATO, Poland and Turkey welcomed the move from the door additional protection for their lands and are still seekingU.S. administration to persuade its allies in the Gulf Countries to This subject. Iraq is not a member of NATO and the nature of the good political relations with Iran and Russia had to be a no-brainer to grant site gave U.S. Advanced in the face of these two countries

Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Kuwait, Saudi arabia, south korea all operate Patriots. If egypt got them (4 batteries of PAC3), then I am guessing Iraq will too.
