The Royal Iraqi Navy was founded in 1936 as a riverine patrol force.

Iraqi navy was founded in the July 2, 1937 as a river force and had its headquarters in Baghdad is linked to the general office of the Ministry of Defense and was then transferred on 30 August of the same year to Alamara to be a river force after the arrival of 4 ships of Britain with a small of berth can work in the river and were armed with machine guns and mortar has been involved in several clashes with tribesmen in southern Iraq. Unfortunately I have no further information except that the first commander of this force, I mean the riverine force was Major General Ahmed Rushdi Haj Mohammed. And that the ships were the first known type of Abdul Rahman, relative to the first vessel name. There was also another ship called Al Gassy. Those ships have the post 1963 flag. So I guess they stayed in service for a long time.

Yes, you're right. They remained in service until the beginning of Iran-Iraq war in 1980, one of which was retained within the Navy Museum in the Shatt al-Arab, which it established after 1988 and remained the museum until the 2003 invasion, where they were stealing and destruction and burnt by the weak people or the so-called Alhwasm.الحواسم
