Ukraine to deliver first batch of BTR-4s to Iraq in December, says source
Ukraine is preparing to deliver the first batch of BTR-4 armored vehicles to Iraq in the middle of December under a large arms supply contract worth over $550 million struck in 2009, a source familiar with the details of the contract told Interfax-Ukraine.
"The production of the first batch of armored vehicles has nearly been completed, [and] delivery has been scheduled for mid-December," the source said.
According to the source, the volume of the first batch of armored vehicles will be agreed shortly before the handover. However, the plans for the participation of Ukrainian BTR-4 vehicles in celebration of the Day of the Iraqi Army haven't changed.
Earlier reports said that eleven Ukraine rBTR-4 vehicles would participate in the parade on January 6 on the Day of the Iraqi Army.
The second batch of the Ukrainian armored vehicles will be delivered to Iraq in early 2011, the source said.
In 2009, the subsidiary of state-owned Ukrspetsexport - the state-run Progress specialized foreign trade firm - signed a contract with Iraq worth more than $550 million, which is to be one of an upcoming series of contracts in the sphere of military and technical cooperation between Ukraine and Iraq.
The contract foresees the delivery more than 400 armored vehicles, in particular the BTR-4, about 10 An-32 aircraft, and aircraft repair services over three to three-and-a-half years.
Among the major contractors are Kharkiv-based Morozov Engineering Design Bureau, the Kharkiv-based state-run Malyshev plant, and Antonov State Enterprise.
According to Antonov State Enterprise, the first three An-32 aircraft will be delivered to Iraq by the end of this year, and another three in 2011-2012.

Other alternatives open to Iraq could have been the C27J (very much interoperable with the C130J-30s) as well as the C295.

they are slightly more expensive than the AN32B, but at least you get an aircraft with longer operational life, cheaper running cost and a more reliable supplier!

State-run Antonov State Enterprise (Kyiv) is ready to deliver the first two An-32 light transport aircraft to Iraq this week. The aircraft were constructed in Kyiv as part of a large-scale contract with Iraq on military equipment supplies worth over $500 million.

Antonov Enterprise Deputy General Designer Oleksandr Kiva told reporters in Kyiv on Monday that Iraqi experts are expected to come to Ukraine this week to take delivery of the first An-32s, and the Ukrainian side is ready to hand over the aircraft.

Aswat al-Iraq: A Ukrainian company has announced in Kiev on Saturday that it might supply Iraq with 6 light An-32 planes before their scheduled supply time.

“Three out of six planes have been assembled in the Ukraine, but the Iraqi side had not taken its final decision to receive them,” The Manager of Antonov Company told the Kiev Post Newspaper on Saturday.

“The Company shall assemble the remaining 3 planes, as soon as it receives the prices of the 1st 3 planes, included in the contract, signed between Iraq and the Company,” he said.

The newspaper said that the Ukrainian Progress Company for Foreign Trade had signed a contract with Iraq in 2009 for US$550 millions, according to which the company would supply Iraq with 6 light planes and 400 armored cars.

“The Company had supplied Iraq with the first shipment of 26 armored personnel-carriers, whilst the second shipment would be supplied by the end of the current year.

أوكرانيا اليوم/كييف/ أعلن ديمتري كيفا رئيس وكبير مصممي مؤسسة انتنوف الوطنية الأوكرانية ان المؤسسة على استعداد حتى نهاية السنة 2011 لتزويد العراق بـ4 من طائرات النقل الخفيفة "آن ـ 32" من الست، التي تم التعاقد عليها. وقال ان الجانب العراقي وقع حتى اليوم الراهن وثائق الاستلام والتسليم التقنية لطائرتين، وبصدد الطائرتين الأخريين سيقوم الجانب العراقي بنفس العملية حتى نهاية السنة.

وأضاف كيفا:"استلمنا ثمن الطائرتين الاوليين"، مشيرا إلى أن الطرفين اتفقا على كافة القضايا الفنية في العقد.

وسبق أن أعلن إن شركة "بروغريس" للتجارة الخارجية، فرع شركة "اوكرسبيتس اكسبورت" الحكومية، وقعت مع العراق عام 2009 عقدا بمبلغ 550 مليون دولار، ومن المفروض إن يشكل واحدة من سلسلة الاتفاقيات التي يجري إعدادها في ميدان التعاون العسكري التقني بين أوكرانيا والعراق.

وينص العقد على توريد اكثر من 400 آلية مدرعة، وبالتحديد "ب تي ار ـ 4"، و6 طائرات نقل خفيفة من طراز "آن ـ 32"، على مدى 3 ـ 3.5 سنة، وكذلك إدامة وصيانة الطائرات.

الدفاع تعلن وصول أول طائرة نقل عسكرية من أصل ست تعاقدت عليها الحكومة مع أوكرانيا

أعلنت وزارة الدفاع العراقية، الجمعة، عن وصول أول طائرة نقل عسكرية للعراق من أصل ست تعاقدت عليها الحكومة العراقية مع نظيرتها الأوكرانية، وفيما بينت أن عملية استلام جميع الطائرات ستنتهي منتصف العام المقبل، أكدت الكلفة الإجمالية للعقد بلغت 99 مليون دولار.

وقال المتحدث باسم الوزارة اللواء محمد العسكري خلال مؤتمر صحفي عقده، اليوم، بقاعدة المثنى الجوية ببغداد عقب وصول الطائرة وحضرته "السومرية نيوز"، إن "العراق تسلم، اليوم، أول طائرة نقل عسكرية متوسطة، أوكرانية الصنع من طراز ان تي نوف موديل 2009"، مبينا أن "هذه الطائرة التي ستكون متعددة الأغراض هي من أصل ست تعاقدت عليها الحكومة العراقية مع نظيرتها الأوكرانية في أب عام 2009".

وأضاف العسكري أن "الأيام المقبلة ستشهد وصول طائرتين أخريين ضمن هذه الصفقة"، مشيرا إلى أن "عملية استلام جميع الطائرات ستنتهي منتصف العام المقبل 2012".

وأكد العسكري أن "الكلفة الإجمالية لشراء تلك الطائرات بلغت 99 مليون دولار".

وكانت وزارة الدفاع أكدت، في (7 أيار الماضي)، أنها استدعت السفير الأوكراني في بغداد للاستفسار حول ما أشيع عن فساد في صفقة تسليح أبرمت بين العراق وأوكرانيا، داعية أي جهة تمتلك معلومات أو وثائق تثبت وجود تلاعب في الأسعار إلى تقديمها، فيما أكد السفير الأوكراني أنه لا توجد شكوك حول تجهيز هذه العقود وتنفيذها.

وأعلنت الحكومة التشيكية في 19 نيسان الماضي، أنها ستعرض على العراق شراء 36 طائرة هجومية وعددا من طائرات الهليكوبتر الحديثة.

حتى العام 2020، إلا أن الحكومة العراقية أعلنت في 25 تشرين الاول 2010 عدم قدرتها على التعاقد على صفقة طائرات أف 16 لانتهاء الصلاحيات الممنوحة لها، مؤكدة في الوقت نفسه حاجة العراق لسلاح جوي قوي لحماية سيادته.

يذكر أن الجيش العراقي الحالي يتألف من 14 فرقة عسكرية معظمها فرق مشاة يقدر عديد أفرادها بأكثر من 300 ألف عسكري، ويملك الجيش نحو 170 دبابة روسية ومجرية الصنع، قدم معظمها كمساعدات من حلف الناتو للحكومة العراقية، فضلاً عن عدد من الطائرات المروحية الروسية والأميركية الصنع، وعدد من الزوارق البحرية في ميناء أم قصر لحماية عمليات تصدير النفط العراقي.
