استغرب عدم استخدام صاروخ المافريك على هذه الطائرات و حتى على آلاف ١٦ لحد الان. رغم انو الصاروخ كان ضمن حزمة التسليح بعقد الاف ١٦

honestly, we 've never even seen a single maverick in Iraq. Who knows if any have actually been delivered.

Same for the sparrow missiles.

The only thing we've seen have been LGBs, Dumb bombs, AiM-9M and drop tanks.

Btw, is there a need for a targeting pod to be installed for the maverick to be fired by the L-159?

Maybe they don't need a targeting pod?

The standers missile like the AGM-65A didn't need. The TV picture (as seen through the missiles Video system) appears at once on a bright display in the cockpit, and the pilot then either slews the video seeker in the missile or else lines up the target in the head-up-display. He depresses the track switch, waits until the target is aligned with the crosshairs on the TV display or the HUD, releases the switch and fires the round.

Other models offer infrared targeting (AGM-65D) or laser-homing (AGM-65C). On LANTIRN-equipped aircraft, the Maverick can be slaved to the FliR-pod of the LANTIRN system, and of course LANTIRN can laser-designate targets for the Maverick.

What we know Iraq ordered for 2 variants (AGM-65H/G)

Maverick G model essentially has the same guidance system as the D with some software modification that enables the pilot to track larger targets. The G model's major difference is its heavier penetrator warhead taken from the Maverick E, compared to the D model's shaped-charge warhead.

Maverick H model is an AGM-65B/D missile upgraded with a new charge-coupled device (CCD) seeker better suited for the desert environment.

Maverick D replaced the electro-optical guidance with an imaging infrared system which doubled the practical firing distance and allowed for its use at night and during bad weather. A reduced smoke rocket engine was also introduced in this model. It achieved its initial operation capability in 1983.

More news on third batch of Iraqi Air Force L-159 pilots.
Two L-159T1 will be delivered to Iraq early next year.

More Iraqi pilots graduate at Aero Vodochody

A third batch of Iraqi Air Force (IQAF) L-159 pilots graduated yesterday, October 12, at Prague-based Aero Vodochody. The aircrew have been training on the second L-159T1 (IQAF 5902) which will be delivered to Iraq early next year, along with the first dual-seater.

Pilots, ground staff and instructors have all converted to the type, as part of a contract between Aero Vodochody and the Iraqi defence ministry signed in 2014. The flight training included basic conversion training, weapons training and emergency procedures, in addition to simulation work.

The deal also covered the delivery of ten single-seat L-159As – which have carried out hundreds of combat sorties against so-called Islamic State in Iraq – in addition to the two dual-seat L-159T1s yet to be delivered. Alan Warnes
